Worshippers Narrowly Escape Bomb Blast In Jos

The managements of business areas, commercial centres as well as worship centres in Nigeriahave been urged to build perimeter fences around such facilities to act as buffers against explosions.

Police Public Relations officer in Plateau State Command, Emmanuel Abuh made the appeal while giving his comment on the bomb explosion at a church in Jos, Plateau State.

The quick response and vigilance of securitypersonnel of the Evangelical Church West Africa (ECWA) in Tudun Wada area of Jos innorth-central Nigeria prevented what couldhave been another black Sunday for worshippers.

Sources at the church told Channels Television that a strange object was identified by one of the worshippers who visited the rest room and alerted the church security.

The attention of the Senior Pastor and other officials were drawn to the strange object which was flung out and thereafter exploded without any casualty.

Another improvised explosive device was also discovered at the entrance of the samechurch which was professionally diffused bysecurity agents without injury to anyone.

As part of measures to beef-up security around worship centres, business areas and shopping malls, managements of such placeswere urge to construct perimeter fence around their property for safety.

The public was also asked to report strange movements and objects to security agents and warned to desist from spreading rumours, as no casualty was recorded in the explosion.
